Northeast Vacation

Earlier this month I took a solo trip to Philadelphia, PA and then to New York City, NY. It was early March so it was a bit cold. Since I traveled to Europe last November I knew pretty easily what I needed to bring on the trip.

Clothes I recommend for a 4-6 day winter vacation are:

  • 1 chunky sweater
  • 3 long sleeve shirts
  • 1 short sleeve t-shirt (for layering or sleeping)
  • 2 pajama sets
  • 2 pairs of jeans (black/blue/etc)
  • 1 pair of sweatpants
  • 6 pairs of bras/underwear/socks
  • 1 down or wool coat
  • 1 pair weather resistant sneakers
  • 1 pair weather resistant dress boots

Two of my best friends from college live in Philly so I got to have a local guide of the city.  I bought a 1968 pressing of a Jimi Hendrix record, ate pierogies, saw the liberty bell, stayed in a historic adorable 19th century home, and participated in a rad group tarot card reading. BTW- I eat meat very rarely so no Philly cheese steaks for moí.

I took the train a few days later to Penn Station in New York City. I love the hustle and bustle of the city. Yellow cabs, fashionable residents, and pop up stores filling the streets.

I also stayed with a BFF of mine from college who lives nearby in Jersey City. The first night we stayed at the Freehand Hotel which is the cutest hotel I have ever stayed at! I am so grateful for the tour of the city I got as well. *Above photo cred! Thanks girl!*

Washington Park, vintage clothes, the Natural History Museum, waiting in line for some legit pasta/wine, eating great food each day, and living out as much as possible my Mrs. Maisel life!

Now that I am adult-ing with full force I don’t mind giving myself these vacations. I deserve it! Next up though, tropical paradise….lol!

Any suggestions?

Why Tarot?

Tarot can seem slightly intimidating and taboo, but it doesn’t have to be. With practice, it’s a great addition to your spirituality, friendships, career, mental health, and much more! The possibilities are endless.

Hello world,

Tarot can seem slightly intimidating and taboo, but it doesn’t have to be. With practice, it’s a great addition to your spirituality, friendships, career, mental health, and much more! The possibilities are endless.

There are 78 cards in a deck. 22 cards cards make up the Major Arcana and 56 cards make up the Minor Arcana. The Minor Arcana can be broken down into 4 different sets of 14 card suits: Wands, Cups, Swords, Pentacles ( also coins). In each suit, there are 4 cards known as Court Cards: Page, Knight, Queen, King. Court Cards represent people in your life. The minor arcana represents general human events and experiences. The major arcana represents life paths and changes.

Things I wish I knew when I first discovered tarot:

  1. Chill. It’s not life or death when asking a question. Whatever card you choose and however you choose it, its the right card. Trust. (:
  2. Reversed cards can be added later in your practice. They can provide provoking thoughts if read with an open mind. If you do practice with reversed cards, discover their meanings slowly and wisely. Get a journal to write down notes!
  3. Cleans your deck with sage/sun often.

There are many spreads one can use during a reading. I like to pull one card most days but multiple cards (spreads) can be really eye opening!

I like to write down the meaning of the card in this amazing tarot workbook journal I found on Etsy! For this post, I am using the Tarot deck by the artist The Wild Unknown.  There are many wonderful decks out in the universe to choose from. Start with one, and then have fun collecting! I love using tarot as a medium for insight and direction. I hope you do too.

In tough situations, I like to seek out spiritual guidance. I don’t consider myself religious, but I do recognize there is a higher power. This aids my decision making, focus, and self-awareness.

Please reach out if you’d like to discuss practicing tarot!

Have fun!

Office Space: His & Hers

It’s been two years since we moved into our first place together and FINALLY this room feels 110% complete and I want to share it with the world (I mean, you few and fine folks)!

Long story short, I’ve been through a lot and it’s both scary and exciting to look at where I am now in life. I have a partner that loves me for who I am and who I am is more self aware than ever.

This office space serves me and my partner in our creative and universal pursuits. For the past two years, I’ve designed countless bags/dresses/skirts. I’ve created too many drawings to count. I’ve taken and edited photos from sunrise to sunset. I believe sharing a working space with someone who shares my drive for art and order has been a game changer. Together, we push each other to be our best and so our office space has taken after us.

This amazing space is pretty half&half of his stuff and mine. We both collect art and decorate the walls with it and our music posters. During the day, I like to gaze out the window in between tasks and he likes to sprawl out in his executive chair while editing videos. At night, we turn on all our party lights and jam on our many instruments under the influence (:

As The Beatles said, “I’ve got to admit it’s getting better. A little better all the time. I have to admit it’s getting better. It’s getting better, since you’ve been mine.”

Chocolate Cherry Bailey’s & Vodka Martini

This drink is great for dessert or simply a different kind of martini to try!

  • Add 1 shot of vodka and 2 shots of baileys (any flavor) to a shaker with ice filled half way.
  • Shake till it gets too cold to touch.
  • Strain into your martini glass.
  • Sprinkle cinnamon on top.
  • Enjoy!

Sneaky, Spinach Smoothie

I love anything sweet tasting and also full of nutrients. This smoothie is great to drink anytime of day, and sure does taste great. I use my Magic Bullet blender which works so quickly and easily transforms to a togo cup.

Recipe:

1 banana

1/4 cup of frozen strawberries

1/4 cup of frozen blue berries

1/2 cup of spinach

1/2 cup of any milk of your choice (i like reduced fat milk or almond milk)

4 ice cubes

1 tbsp of flaxseed

*Smoothies are so easy to mix up. Try adding some greek yogurt instead of milk, throw in some vanilla protein powder, or use a different fruit mix up like kiwi and mango.
